Lesson Purpose
Lesson Narrative
In this lesson, students to make sense of the product of a whole number and a nonunit fraction. Students relate the product of a whole number and a nonunit fraction to the product of a whole number and a unit fraction. They will have more opportunities to multiply a whole number by a fraction in the next section, systematically using the idea of area. This lesson continues to focus on the relationship between multiplication and division and encourages students to solve and interpret the problems in ways that make sense to them.
