Lesson 7
Accurate Representations
These materials, when encountered before Algebra 1, Unit 6, Lesson 7 support success in that lesson.
Lesson Narrative
The associated Algebra 1 lesson is about making sense of the features of a graph that represents a situation. In this supporting lesson, students consider multiple possible graphs to represent a situation, choose one that represents it the best, attending to reasonable values for the domain, and explain why. This work requires reasoning abstractly and quantitatively (MP2) as well as attending to precision (MP6).
Learning Goals
Teacher Facing
- Consider reasonable values for the domain of a function that represents a context.
- Make sense of points on a graph that represents a context.
Student Facing
