Lesson 6
Actual Data vs. Predicted Data
These materials, when encountered before Algebra 1, Unit 3, Lesson 6 support success in that lesson.
Lesson Narrative
The mathematical purpose of this lesson is for students to understand the difference between actual data and its linear model. Previously, students have worked with scatter plots to display data, and have created linear models to fit data represented in a scatter plot. This lesson prepares students to calculate residuals in an associated Algebra 1 lesson. Students reason abstractly and quantitatively (MP2) when they interpret data from scatter plots and linear models.
Learning Goals
Teacher Facing
